I originally wrote the below post on 8-25-10 (at the age of almost 2 1/2) but never published it because I didn't have pictures. Since I found it interesting to see how they changed (or stayed the same) in just 2 short years, I thought I would want to do it as the years go on. So, here ya go...
We're Different, We're the Same
When I taught 1st grade, I used to start each school year off by reading the Sesame Street's picture book, "We're Different, We're the Same", and used to talk about out similarities and differences. Since my lack of imagination is in full swing, I thought I would copy the idea with a snippet of how the boys are different, and how they are alike...
We're Different
Favorite way to spend free time...
Liam- Anything sports related, especially if balls are involved! Liam has been able to catch and dribble balls for months.
Aidan- All puzzles! Aidan is so smart, he is even able to independently put together his alphabet puzzle that is not color or picture coded; for placement OR to document front/ back of the pieces... Truly impressive!
Connor- Bikes/ scooters/ cars. Connor loves to be on the go, and when he is not running, he loves to ride all toys.
Easiest way to get a smile...
Liam- Tickle him anywhere, the back of his neck is one of my favorites.
Aidan- Whisper in a singing voice "I Love Aidan" into his ear.
Connor- Hug him (for a very long time) when he's going to sleep
A few words to describe..
Liam- Hard worker (his occupational therapist told me that she has never worked with a toddler who was so willing to try different activities), Playful
Aidan- Determined, Sensitive, Independent
Connor- Silly, A Leader
Most likely to...
Test the boundaries- Liam
Hug me for no reason- Connor
Not even need a napkin after eating a messy meal- Aidan
Play together- Liam and Connor
Need some alone time- Aidan
Give me directions while driving- Liam
Clean up without constant reminding- Aidan and Connor
Sing- Liam and Connor
We're the Same
They are all super smart!!! They know their colors, shapes, numbers to 10, and alphabet!
They all LOVE to go on adventures! They all LOVE company!
They don't stop, ever!
They all seem very coordinated. They are able to ride their trikes independently, along with their scooters and cars. They also are able to climb on big-kid playground equipment without accident (knock-on-wood).
They are AWESOME sleepers. We still consistently get 12 hours straight during the night, but naptime is hit-or-miss. When we hit, it's a homerun (3 hours), but when it's a miss, it could make for a very looong (and crabby!) afternoon!
They are great eaters! When we are at home, they eat a vegie at every lunch and dinner, along with fruit and whole grains. When we are out, I don't worry about nutrition at all. Rather, I am all about whatever will make them the happiest while in public :-).
None of them appear to get frustrated when we can't understand what they are saying. They'll just keep repeating the same babble over and over until we finally understand what they are trying to say.
A few other fun facts about them...
They are all still in their cribs. All tents have been down for a few months now, but they understand that they need to stay in their cribs until we come and get them.
All of our gates are down in our house. The boys are very respectful of the 'forbidden' rooms in our home, and never go into them.
