Patchworks of Love

MaryJo told me when I was pregnant that she wanted to make quilts for her grandbabies.  However, since she was going to have 3 arrive at the same time (4 if you count Sarah), she knew she wouldn't have enough time to finish them before they were born.  So she came up with a perfect action plan... To make Baby A, Baby B & Baby C (now known as Liam, Aidan, & Connor) big boy quilts for their big boy room.

Fast forward three years, MaryJo asked what my 'visions' for the boys quilts were, which honestly wasn't much.  The poor lady needed my input, and I don't have a crafty bone in my body. So I told her that I wanted something boyish, possibly sport themed, not country looking, bright and colorful, and I preferred for each quilt to coordinate rather than match.

Not giving her much to go on, she researched many patterns (which I learned during the process is different than showing her examples of a quilts that I like), brainstormed with several quilting experts (and my very helpful sister-in-law),  learned new skills (such as how to create adorable appliques), sifted through thousands of fabrics (literally thousands), and worked countless hours (I bet she's glad she didn't count the hours, as the amount of time she spent creating the quilts was crazy high!).  And what did we get for all of that time and effort???

THE MOST PERFECT QUILTS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!

The boys knew that their quilts were in the bags (they've been hearing lots about the quilts that Grandma Mary was making them!), and were so excited to finally see them!

It didn't take long for the boys to try out their new quilts!

 Look at those smiles...

Apparently the boys love their quilts as much as I do!

Now that they have had their quilts for a few months, they are not considered 'new' anymore.  But I'm happy to say that all three continue to appreciate the quilts every bit as much as the night they received them.  And the boys are super good at taking care of their quilts.  I never have to remind them to fold them down at night and rarely do I have to ask them to fix their quilts in the morning (rarely is an average between 2 little boys who never need a reminder and 1 little boy who needs a reminder quite often :-)).
Liam does a great job making his bed, and always has his animals tucked under the quilt every morning.
Connor also does a great job, but most of his animals prefer to lay on top of his quilt.

My sweet culprit, who often needs reminders to finish making his bed:-).

The final result is now my favorite room in our house!

Truly priceless gifts that will forever be cherished!
Thank You Grandma Mary!!!!
