While we waited, he entertained me with one thing after another.
Here Liam is performing his very awesome "Disappearing Boy" magic trick.
Shortly before his surgery, Liam was given some 'happy juice', which is intended to take the edge off anxious patients. Even though Liam did not have an edge, it was recommended that he still take it to prevent a panic in the operating room after being taken away from me. The 20 minutes or so that I dealt with a loopy toddler was quite entertaining, to say the least. Liam was his normal self, all smiles and no fear, minus the muscle control. The poor guy couldn't sit up or even keep both eyes open at the same time. That didn't stop him from 'trying' to wave at the nurses or even attempting to take a nose dive out of his wagon. He was so sweet and absolutely hilarious!!!
The surgery went well! Liam's surgeon told me that his adenoids were huge, much larger than expected (and he expected them to be big!). The only negative of the whole morning (besides a very sad Liam when he woke up after the surgery) was that we learned that Liam's tonsils are enlarged as well, so we will have to keep our eyes on that as he gets older.
All-in-all, a very successful surgery!
