CRASH, SCREAM and CRAM

Our summer ended every bit as 'crazy fun busy' as it started.

SYCAMORE SPEEDWAY... CRASH!!!
First we were off to the Sycamore Speedway for some demolition derby races.  I think we did a decent job preparing Liam, Aidan & Connor for the crashes that they would see and the noises they would hear, but we failed to mention the mud that would be sprayed from the racing cars.  Who knew?!?  A blast of a time for all 5 of us!!!
The boys enjoyed checking out all of the cars before the races began, and even had a little VIP treatment from some of the drivers.  New and exciting for everyone!!!

They enjoyed watching the pre-race warm-ups, up close!

That is until the first mud came shooting at us.  Then Liam spent a good deal of time using me as a shield :-).
Connor really got into the races, making sure everyone picked a car before each race.

He was also the first to celebrate after his picks won!
The only way this speedway experience could have been more exciting for the boys is if they were racing tractors instead of cars!!!

SIX FLAGS GREAT AMERICA... SCREAM!!!

Our next stop was to Six Flags for another fun family adventure.  Last year we went on Labor Day, and since the park was so empty we decided to make it an annual event.  To be honest I was worried that my expectations would get me into trouble this year, as Six Flags was my favorite place on earth while growing up AND I had so much fun with my family last year.  Thankfully it was a total and complete success, and even exceeded my wildly high expectations!!!
We started with an easy one, the double-decker merry-go-round.

But was off to the super spinney tea cups in no time.  Before the ride even started Connor asked to hold my hand tightly.  And while the ride as going the poor kid told me that it seemed like we were going to fly off the tracks, which I agreed!  Thankfully this didn't scare Connor away from the rest of the rides.  So brave!

Oh my gosh does Liam LOVE roller coasters (I think he got that one from me!).  Throughout the day Liam was on the look-out trying to find every roller coaster in the park, and then asking to go on each of them.  Unfortunately due to his height (and only being 3) he was limited to the kiddie coasters and the Wizzard!  Next year Craig is going to have to make Liam some lifts for his shoes so he can ride the bigger coasters!!!

Our only mistake of the day... brrr!!!!

Take a guess... Who told us right before getting on the ride that he had to go to the potty?!?  I sometimes miss diapers!!!

Aidan gave his daddy 2 thumbs up on his first roller coaster while riding solo!  He LOVED all the rides and had a blast!

Connor was a trooper, going on all the rides except the Wizzard!
And Liam loved EVERY second of EVERY minute of the ENTIRE day!!!
The boys met Porky the Pig!
(Toni- If you see this, sorry we didn't go to Six Flags BEFORE your trip.  We could have beat those boys of ours... sorry!!!)

We'll definitely be back 2012!!!

DISNEY ON ICE... CRAM!!!
Since the boys love Mickey Mouse so much I knew that we had to take them to Disney on Ice when it came to town.  After doing a little research, I found out that other Disney characters were going to be a part of the production so off to the library we went.  For the last 3 weeks the boys have been "studying" in order to be prepared for the show.  We read The Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians, Peter Pan and The Lion King.  Afterwards we watched all of the movies while in the car getting to and from our other adventures.  Gotta love multi-tasking!

Here the boys are "cramming" for the first time, reading their Disney stories on the way to the show...

And while we were at the United Center we had to stop at the Bulls and Blackhawk exhibits...

Another successful adventure!

Who knew that crashing, screaming and cramming would be such a fun way to end our summer?!?
